CEDARVILLE, Ohio – On Friday evening, the Ohio Dominican volleyball team traveled to Cedarville University to take on the Yellow Jackets for the second time this season. The Panthers defeated the Yellow Jackets, 3-2.

Box Score Notes
- Sophomore Jenna Peters (Vermilion, Ohio) led the way with 16 kills. Peters added three digs and a block. Joining her in double figures was Ashley Aselage (Tipp City, Ohio) with 13 kills.
- Senior Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) netted 17 digs in tonight's match. The senior also grabbed 10 assists.
- Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) and Gabrielle Kirker (Tallmadge, Ohio) both had double-digit digs as well. The two posted double-doubles as Averya had 23 assists and 12 digs with Kirker having 18 assists and 11 digs.
How It Happened
- After falling to the Yellow Jackets the first time, the Black and Gold ran out to an early 10-2 lead in the opening set. Kills from Peters and Grace Zinchuk (Schaumburg, Ill.) extended their lead to 17-5. The Panthers remained ahead the rest of the set, snagging a 25-14 win in the first set.
- In the second set, Cedarville jumped out to a 5-3 lead. The Panthers knotted it at 6-all but quickly lost the lead to an error. CU pushed their lead to as many as five, making it 15-10. The Yellow Jackets remained ahead, taking it 25-22, tying it 1-1.
- With the momentum, Cedarville opened the fourth set with an 8-3 lead over Ohio Dominican. The Panthers brought it within one and rallied late but remained behind the entire match, dropping it 25-21.
- The two traded points to open the fourth set before the Yellow Jackets went on an eight-point run, making it 13-7. Cedarville went up 10 after a block and a Panther error. The Black and Gold battled late, grabbing five points in a row with two kills from Peters, making it 22-19. A service ace from Shoup along with more kills from Peters, pushed ODU in the lead and to a 26-24 win, forcing a fifth set.
- In the must win set, the two were tied at 5-all until Ohio Dominican went on a 5-0 run to take a 10-5 lead. ODU remained strong and took the match 15-10, and the game 3-2.
