Women's Golf Shares Ashland Invite Title

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers women's golf team technically remained undefeated for the 2023 Fall season after 36 holes at the Ashland Eagle Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 23) and Sunday (Sept. 24) at Ashland Country Club.  

Ohio Dominican's A team shot 329 in the first round before shooting a second round best 316. The Panthers ended in a first-place tie with the host Ashland with a total of 645. ODU and Ashland were tied atop the standings with nine teams competing total. The B team for Ohio Dominican tallied rounds of 364 and 351 for a 715 total, sitting in seventh. 

For the second straight week and 14th time in the program's history, the Panthers ended an event as the tournament champions. 

A Team
Abbey Dillon (Bolivar, Ohio) ended day one with an event low and 3-over 75 before shooting 76 on Sunday. With a 151 total, Dillon ended the tournament in second place as she was 7-over par for 36 holes. 

Meg Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) was tied for eighth place with a 36-hole total of 163. She shot 84 in the first round before 79 in the second round. 

Sydney Devore (New Philadelphia, Ohio) had the third lowest total for the Panthers in an 11th place tie. The sophomore tallied rounds of 84 and 81, respectively for a total of 165 - two strokes behind Saffell. 

Caroline Tragesser (Murrysville, Pennsylvania) finished in 20th place on a 170 score after two rounds. She improved from 86 on Saturday to 84 on Sunday. 

Ana Reed (Denton, Texas) improved by 12 strokes on day two of the tournament after a 92 in the first round. With an 80 on Sunday, she was two strokes behind her teammate with 172 on her 36-hole total. 

B Team
Morgan Cornwell (Somerset, Ohio) led the second team with a 174 total, shooting rounds of 90 and 84. 

Alyssa Newsom (Granville, Ohio) and Alana Miller (Dayton, Ohio) were separated by one stroke in their totals for the weekend. Newsom shot 88 and 92 for 180 while Miller had respective rounds of 91 and 90, adding to 181. 

Ellyn Deibel (Lancaster, Ohio) shaved off seven strokes on Sunday with an 88 second round after going 95 in the opening round. Deibel's 36-hole total was 183. 

Sarah Ochs (Beavercreek, Ohio) was another player with a better second round. She scored 97 in the first 18 and then went 89 on Sunday for a 36-hole total of 186. 

Ohio Dominican will head to Findlay for the William Beall Fall Classic on October 2nd and 3rd.
