COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the first time in 18 days, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team returns to Panther Stadium. The Black and Gold welcome Great Midwest Athletic Conference newcomer, Thomas More, on Wednesday afternoon before taking a short trip to Cedarville on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers hold a 2-1-2 record and are 1-0 in the conference. Ohio Dominican defeated Lake Erie on Saturday, 2-1, to pick up their first conference win on the road.
About Ohio Dominican
Against the Storm, junior
Ryanne Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) grabbed her first goal of the season. Buck now has six goals in her career. Joining her was freshman
Natalie Burwinkel (Reading, Ohio). The freshman netted her first career goal in the 41
st minute of the match on Saturday.
Carmen Morris (Lancaster, Ohio) and
Avery Bowden (Pickerington, Ohio) notched their first assists this season.
About Thomas More
The Saints are 0-4-1 overall, posting a 0-2 G-MAC record. TMU were bested at Walsh, 2-0, on Wednesday and by Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday morning, 2-1.
Accounting for both of the goals this season for Thomas More is freshman Andela Popovic. Popovic scored at Purdue Northwest and against the Trojans. Between the posts, sophomore keeper Lauren Welsh has 19 saves in her four games. Welsh has a 2.68 GAA.
Thomas More and Ohio Dominican will meet for the first time on Wednesday evening at Panther Stadium.
About Cedarville
The Yellow Jackets are 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Cedarville defeated Findlay 2-0 on Wednesday and were downed by the Timberwolves of Northwood on Saturday, 3-2.
Sophomore Megan McClish leads CU with two goals on the year. McClish has taken nine total shots and five on goal. She also has an assist. In the net, senior Brooke Ackley has grabbed 21 saves, tied for second in the conference. Ackley averages 3.50 saves per game and has three shutouts.
The Black and Gold are 7-4-2 against Cedarville. The Yellow Jackets have won four of the last six contests with draws coming in the second matchup of 2019 and in the spring of 2021. CU host Lake Erie on Wednesday before welcoming Ohio Dominican on Saturday.
Game Time
Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon against Thomas More for Ohio Dominican's Mental Health Awareness Night at Panther Stadium. The Panthers then face the Yellow Jackets at 4:30 PM on Saturday night at Yellow Jacket Soccer Complex.Â
