Black and Gold Battle Storm in G-MAC Opener

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Saturday afternoon, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team will open Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on the road. The Panthers will take on the Storm of Lake Erie College at 2:30 PM from Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.

The Black and Gold currently sit at 1-1-2 on the year. The Panthers return back to Ohio after taking a trip through Missouri to play regional opponents Missouri – St. Louis and Maryville last weekend. ODU went 0-1-1 with a 0-0 draw against the Tritons and a 2-0 loss to the Saints.

About Ohio Dominican

In a defensive battle over the last two games, both Ohio Dominican keepers saw substantial playing time. Senior Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) picked up both starts last weekend grabbing two saves on Saturday. Kaitlin Grady (Twinsburg, Ohio) appeared in the second half of both games, snagging three saves on Thursday and one on Saturday.

On the front line, Devin Schoenberger (Redondo Beach, Calif.) leads the way for the Panthers with four shots on the season after picking up one against the Tritons. Alex Garver (Springboro, Ohio) also took a shot on goal in the same game, bringing her total to two shots, all on target.

About Lake Erie

The Storm are currently 1-2-1 this fall and 0-1 in G-MAC play. LEC opened up conference play with the Timberwolves of Northwood Wednesday, falling on the road, 2-0.

Five different players for the Storm have connected with the back of the net, including sophomore Ainsley Mackenzie. Mackenzie collected a goal and an assist against Glenville St. Freshman Taylor Hartman leads with two assists coming against Roberts Wesleyan and D'Youville. In goal, Morgan Vanmeter has 17 saves in four games.

The Black and Hold are 16-2 against Lake Erie, dating back to 2010, the inaugural Division II season. The Panthers have won the last three meetings with the only two losses coming in the 2021 fall season and in the 2010 season.

The contest is set to kickoff at 2:30 PM from Jack Britt Memorial Stadium in Painesville, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.
