COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Thursday evening, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team began their 2023 season at home for the first time since 2018. The Panthers grabbed their first win of the season with a 1-0 advantage over West Virginia State.

The Black and Gold fired first with a shot in the 12
th minute from
Kate Kodger (Hilliard, Ohio). The Yellow Jackets responded with back-to-back shots within the 26
th minute, resulting in a save for
Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio). With the half winding down, junior
Devin Schoenberger (Redondo Beach, Calif.) broke away from the WVSU defense to put ODU on the board 1-0.

In the second half, State came out strong letting off four shots in a row within the opening minutes. By the 55
th minute mark, senior keeper
Kaitlin Grady (Twinsburg, Ohio) recorded three saves, keeping the Yellow Jackets off the board.

The Panthers defense and Grady remained strong throughout the remainder of the game with Grady picking up another save while keeping a clean slate against West Virginia State.

The Black and Gold return to action on Saturday afternoon where they'll take on Great Lakes Valley Conference institution Indianapolis at 3:00 PM at Panther Stadium.
