FINDLAY, Ohio – On the first day of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Tournament, the Ohio Dominican softball team fell to Tiffin University, 5-2.
The Black and Gold collected four hits against the Dragons including a two-run home run from
Braxton Downs (Louisville, Ky.). Junior
Alexis Stevens (Marion, Ohio) added another double to her season statistics this afternoon. In the circle,
Marlee Jacobs (Plain City, Ohio) grabbed four strikeouts.
How It Happened
The Dragons recorded the first hit of the game in the top of the third inning with a single to center field. Tiffin continued with momentum in the top of the next inning, plating three runs off of four hits and an error.
The Panthers answered in the bottom of the frame with a double from Stevens. A two-run home run from Downs put the Black and Gold of the board, making it 3-2. TU grew their lead to 5-2 in the top of the fifth with two hits.
Freshman
Olivia Congleton (Belpre, Ohio) grabbed her first hit to open the bottom of the fifth. An inning later,
Kaleigh Golden (Thornville, Ohio) singled to left field. The Panthers went hitless in their final at bat, falling in the opening game 5-2.
