Armbrust Ties 100m Record, 23 Panthers Hit PR Marks

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers outdoor track and field team returned to Tiffin for the Tiffin Track Carnival, hosted by Tiffin and Heidelberg Universities on Friday (April 14). 

One school record was tied among 23 Panthers that reached personal bests across both genders.

MEN

For the 100 meter dash, Ismael Obas (Columbus, Ohio) led the group with a PR of 11.31 seconds. Manny Codjoe (Bolingbrook, Illinois) was a dash behind Obas at 11.37 seconds. Benjamin Seely (Chesterton, Indiana) and Owen Wilhelm (Sunbury, Ohio) ran PR's of 11.50 seconds and 11.94 seconds, respectively. 

Jacob Krous (Galena, Ohio) ran in the 1500 meter Championship race and ended in 19th place with a PR of 4:04.89. Krous just missed the school record of 4:03.61. Four Panthers took part in the 1500 meter run and all of them met records of their careers. Merrick Shorter (Dublin, Ohio) was sixth overall with a 4:11.97. Dylan Taylor (Tipp City, Ohio) scored at 4:35.63 with Edward Devaney (Lexington, Ohio) and Landon Latham (Westland, Michigan) following in line. Devaney's time was 4:36.34 and Latham was 4:36.63. 

Wilhelm reached a season best of 1.84 meters in the high jump. 

Three of the four Panthers in the 400 meters had bests for their careers. Aly Diaby edged Marcus Steele (Columbus, Ohio) with a 49.70 second run to 49.90 seconds. Diaby ended in 15th place and Steele was 16th overall. Manny Codjoe (Bolingbrook, Illinois) had a 52.26 second PR with Jaivien Steele (Cleveland, Ohio) ending at 52.60 seconds for a best mark. 

Codjoe, Eugene Boahen, Diaby and Obas ran the 4x100 relay and brought the Panthers home in 41.88 seconds for third place. 

Krous, Seely, M. Steele and J. Steele had a 4x400 time of 3:28.13 for a ninth place finish. 

Henry Pierce (Rockbridge, Ohio) maxed out at 35.19 meters for the discus throw, getting a personal best. Tyler Hampton had a best throw of 31.95 meters. 

WOMEN

Brooke Armbrust (Grove City, Ohio) tied the 100 meter school record as she finished third overall in the final, clocking in at 12.06 seconds. 

Four Panthers competed in the 100 meter prelim races. Molly Van Horn (Granville, Ohio) had the eighth fastest time overall as she hit a PR of 12.62 seconds. G'nae Morrison (San Antonio, Texas) was just behind Van Horn in 11th place with a time of 12.69 seconds. Logan Pride (Twinsburg, Ohio) made her collegiate debut with a PR of 13.43 seconds while Kassydee Owens (Harlan, Kentucky) got her own PR of 14.70 seconds. 

In the 400 meters, Van Horn led the way with a 10th place finish and a 59.00 second time. Owens set her second PR of the day, 1:01.04 in 20th place. Nikane Ambos (Wapakoneta, Ohio) finished in 1:04.16 with Grace Pitt behind her at 1:09.20. 

Armbrust, Ambos, Owens and Van Horn combined to run the 4x400 relay in 4:15.24. 

Kylee Henry (Circleville, Ohio) continued to shave time off her best 1500 meter time as she finished the event in 5:41.70. Jaclyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) ran her season best in 5:50.61. 

Jeralyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) was ninth in the 5K, finishing in 20:36.23. 

Kelsey Shaffer (Spencerville, Ohio) topped out at 4.40 meters in the long jump. 

Six Panthers made their debuts in the discus throw, all hitting personal bests. 

Ohio Dominican is set to compete at the Otterbein Twlight Meet and the Jesse Owens Memorial Classic this upcoming weekend.
