Women's Basketball Set To Begin Three-Game Home Stretch With Malone And #1 Ashland

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team begins a three-game home stretch this weekend. The Panthers welcome Malone University and #1 Ashland University for their first meeting of the season.

The Black and Gold recently came up short in two road contests last weekend with a 63-38 loss at Ky. Wesleyan and a 68-63 defeat at Trevecca Nazarene. Ohio Dominican is currently 6-15 overall with a 3-11 record in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Opening Tip-Off

  • Junior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) netted 11 points on Thursday and 24 points on Saturday, marking her 16th game as team leader in scoring. The guard also led in rebounds and assists in the Music City after grabbing seven boards and dishing out six assists.
  • Stare went 10-13 from the field against the Trojans, shooting a season best of 76.9 percent from the field.
  • Fellow teammate, Macy Chapman (Hilliard, Ohio), netted double-figure performances over the weekend as well. The freshman matched Stare on Thursday with 11 points and added 15 points in Saturdays contest. Chapman collected five assists over the weekend, making her average 1.7 steals per game.
  • Sophomore, Shannon Wojciak (Medina, Ohio), started both games and snagged 12 total rebounds. The forward netted a career-high of six points against the Trojans.
  • Wojciak and Chapman each registered two blocks with Wojciak's coming on Thursday and Chapman's coming on Saturday.
  • The Black and Gold held TNU to a season low of 9.1 percent shooting in the fourth quarter, while outshooting them 51.9 percent to 46.3 percent for the game.

About Malone

  • The Pioneers are 17-6 overall with an 11-4 mark in the G-MAC, placing them in fourth place in the conference standings.
  • In the last meeting, Malone was victorious on their home court a season ago, defeating Ohio Dominican 70-47 in Osborne Hall.
  • MU trails in the Division II Era all-time series as the Panthers hold an 11-7 record over the Pioneers. Malone is 5-4 in Alumni Hall before the contest on Thursday evening.
  • The three time G-MAC Player of the Week, Alexis Hutchison, leads her team in scoring, averaging 18.3 ppg, and leads the conference in total field goals with 157.
  • As a team, Malone averages 72.2 ppg, shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from behind the arc.

About Ashland

  • The top ranked Eagles are 23-0 on the season and 15-0 in the conference, remaining at number one in the nation for the sixth week in a row.
  • Last season, Ashland defeated Ohio Dominican 72-53 inside Charles Kates Gymnasium. The Eagles hold a 19-0 record over the Panthers with a 4-0 mark when ranked number one.
  • AU is led by Annie Roshak averaging 13.9 ppg. Roshak holds first place in Division II for field goal percentage at 71.3 percent.
  • Ashland averages 85.9 ppg, shooting 53.0 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from downtown, and ranking first in the national rankings.
  • AU travels to Ursuline on Thursday night for 5:30 PM tip before heading to Sunbury Road on Saturday afternoon.

Ohio Dominican is set to tip-off against Malone on Thursday at 5:30 PM with a 1:00 PM game time on Saturday against Ashland.
