Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team concluded their weekend road trip with a game against the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers battled the entire 40 minutes but came up short in the final seconds, losing the match 68-63.
Ohio Dominican sits at 6-15 overall with a 3-11 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. With six conference games remaining, the Black and Gold are currently sitting at eleventh in the standings.
Box Score Notes
- Junior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) led the charge for the Panthers with 24 points on 10-13 shooting. The guard also led with seven rebounds and six assists.
- Following Stare was freshman Macy Chapman (Hilliard, Ohio) with 15 points. Chapman went 7-9 from the field and snagged three assists and two steals in 33 minutes of play.
- Collecting a career-high of six points was sophomore Shannon Wojciak (Medina, Ohio). The forward grabbed five rebounds and dished out two assists. Fellow teammate Madelyn Fearon (Greenville, Ohio) also netted six points, going 2-7 from downtown.
- The Black and Gold outshot the Purple and White 51.9 percent to 46.3 percent from the field.
How It Happened
- TNU won the jump and scored first off a layup. After going bucket-for-bucket, ODU went on a 7-2 run, taking an 18-13 lead with 2:25 left to play. The Trojans answered with a 9-0 scoring swing of their own to end the opening quarter ahead 22-18.
- The Trojans began the second quarter on a hot streak, extending their lead over the Panthers to 10, making it 32-22. Ohio Dominican rallied back and finished the period on a 15-5 scoring edge. ODU and TNU went into the break tied at 37-all.
- Trevecca Nazarene opened the third quarter with vengeance, growing their lead to 10 with 4:00 minutes remaining. The Black and Gold trailed as many as 12 but entered the final quarter down 57-47.
- Ohio Dominican dug themselves out of a hole, outscoring TNU 16-1 with 2:17 left to play. The Panthers grabbed the lead 63-58. The Trojans came back going 8-10 from the charity stripe in the final two minutes to win the contest 68-63.
