Black And Gold Host Lake Erie For Play4Kay Then Travel To Northwood Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With the end of the season nearing, the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team look to host Lake Erie College on Thursday evening for a Play4Kay game before heading to Northwood University on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers hosted Malone and #1 Ashland last weekend, coming up short in both contests. The Pioneers downed Ohio Dominican 81-61 while the Eagles soared past the Black and Gold 99-57.

Opening Tip-Off

  • Junior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) averaged 21.0 ppg after netting 19 points against MU and 23 points against AU. In 15 consecutive games, Stare has netted double-figure points. The guard also added nine rebounds on Thursday evening.
  • Guard Sarah Ochs (Beavercreek, Ohio) led the way against the Purple and Yellow, dishing out five assists. Ochs notched 11 points, going a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe.
  • Fellow freshman Madelyn Fearon (Greenville, Ohio) added five rebounds and four assists against the Pioneers. The guard went 3-3 from behind the arc, tallying nine points.
  • On the glass, freshman Logan Pride (Twinsburg, Ohio) grabbed 11 boards over the two games with six on the offensive end.

About Lake Erie

  • Lake Erie has moved to 8-15 overall with a 4-10 record in the Great Midwest, going 4-10 since facing the Panthers two months ago.
  • In the first meeting between the two, the Storm downed the Panthers 87-69 in the Osborne Center where four of the Lake Erie starters netted double-figure scoring.
  • Abby Matalavage leads the team averaging 18.7 ppg with Sydney Wyngarden following with 14.0 ppg. Senior guard, Angela Fink, leads the conference in assists with 119 and assists per game, averaging 5.2.
  • LEC is 5-7 in Alumni Hall with the Black and Gold winning the last three meetings in Columbus. Ohio Dominican holds a 15-10 record over Lake Erie within the Division II Era.

About Northwood

  • Northwood holds an 11-12 overall record with an 8-8 mark in the conference, placing them fifth in the conference standings. On their home court, they are 8-5 this season.
  • To begin the month of December, the Timberwolves defeated Ohio Dominican in Alumni Hall 77-62. Maddie Voelker collected a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Voelker is one of three players to average double-figures on the season with 11 ppg. She is joined by Makenzie Todd (16.3) and Ava DiMilia (10.0). Freshman, Maeve St. John, leads the G-MAC averaging 2.17 steals per game.
  • NU leads ODU in the Division II Era series 6-5, posting a home record of 4-1 against the Panthers.

Thursday's game against Lake Erie will tip-off at 5:30 PM and will honor Play4Kay. Saturday's match will begin at 1:00 PM in Midland, Mich.
