INDIANAPOLIS – On Saturday afternoon, the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team ended the 2023 year with a trip to regional opponent, University of Indianapolis. The Panthers stumbled on the road, falling to the Greyhounds, 83-71.

- For the eleventh time this winter, senior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) recorded double figure points. Stare went 11-18 from the field to record 25 points. The guard had three assists and three rebounds.
- Off the bench, freshman Jazmyn Wheeler (Winfield, W. Va.) netted 12 points on the afternoon. Wheeler went 5-8 from the field and 2-3 from the charity stripe in 11 minutes of play.
- The last Panther to collect double digit points was junior Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio). Mullet grabbed 10 points, making three from deep. The guard registered a team high of five assists in the process.
- Freshman, Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio) grabbed seven rebounds and four steals, leading the team in both categories. She followed Mullet with three assists and notched another block on the season.
How It Happened
- Over the course of the first five minutes, the Greyhounds ran out to a 12-2 lead. The Crimson and Grey continued to lead, going ahead as many as 13 in the first quarter.
- In the second quarter, the Hounds outscored the Panthers nine to one to grow their lead to 36-16. To end the period, the Black and Gold went on a run of their own, scoring 10 unanswered points, to cut their deficit to 11, making it 39-28 heading into the intermission.
- ODU began the third period with back-to-back buckets before UIndy took control, growing their lead to 52-34. In the final three minutes, Wheeler netted seven points to bring Ohio Dominican within 15.
- To open the final period, the two traded points before the Panthers went on a 10-2 run over the course of two minutes, cutting their deficit to six, 67-61. Despite the Black and Golds comeback, Indianapolis went 14-15 from the charity stripe in the last four minutes to secure an 83-71 home win.
