CEDARVILLE, Ohio – On Thursday evening, the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team began their Great Midwest Athletic Conference schedule on the road at Cedarville University. The Panthers started strong, but an offensive surge from the Yellow Jackets in the second half secured them an 85-70 win.

- For the fourth time this season, senior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) led the way for the Panthers in scoring. Stare netted 15 points, going a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe. Following her was Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio) with 12 points and a team high of three rebounds.
- Freshman Nelia Guice (Westerville, Ohio) recorded a career high of 11 points in tonight's game, along with three rebounds. Also with 11 points was senior Camryn Pickerill (Seamen, Ohio). Pickerill went 3-4 from behind the arc and added three assists.
- The last player to score double figures for the Black and Gold was La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) with 10. Hill went 5-8 from the free throw line and had five assists.
How It Happened
- The Yellow Jackets scored the opening bucket of the game before Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio) netted the first points for the Panthers. The two traded points throughout the entire quarter with a last second layup from Shackleford giving the Black and Gold a two-point edge at the end of the opening quarter, 18-16.
- IN the second period, ODU began with a 5-0 run, extending their lead to 23-16. Ohio Dominican remained in the driver's seat, pushing their lead to as many as nine with a three from Hill. Cedarville rallied late, cutting their deficit to six at the intermission, 37-31.
- In the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets and the Panthers went bucket-for-bucket before CU grabbed six unanswered points, taking a 45-42 lead. Cedarville pushed, outscoring Ohio Dominican 28-14 in the quarter to enter the final 10 minutes with a 59-51 lead.
- In the final period, Guice added five points while Stare added six, but the Black and Gold couldn't overcome their deficit, falling to the Yellow Jackets, 81-65 in their conference opener.
