ERIE, Pennsylvania - For the penultimate event of the Fall season, the Ohio Dominican Panthers women's golf team competed in the Michael Corbett Fall Classic on Sunday (Oct. 8) and Monday (Oct. 9). The event was hosted by Gannon and held at the Whispering Woods Golf Course.
Ohio Dominican came away with a second place finish as a team, finishing behind the host Gannon. The Panthers led after the first round with a 307 (the third lowest team score in program history). ODU shot 319 in round two and finished with an overall total of 626. The 626 was tied for the fifth-highest 36-hole total for Ohio Dominican.
Senior
Abbey Dillon (Bolivar, Ohio) ended the event with her first career title as she was the medalist. Dillon was tied for the lead after the event and won the one-hole playoff. Dillon shot rounds of 73 and 77 to score 150 (+6). She was tied for the lead with eight birdies for the event.
Sophomore
Caroline Tragesser (Murrysville, Pennsylvania) joined Dillon on the All-Tournament team in fourth place. Tragesser tallied single round scoress of 75 and 77, totaling an 8-over 152. She made five birdies and was tied for the team lead with 19 pars.
Sophomore
Sydney Devore (New Philadelphia, Ohio) had a first round of 81 and a second round 82 for a grand total of 163. Devore finished in a tenth place tie and was tied with Tragesser for 19 pars on the scorecard.
Junior
Ana Reed (Denton, Texas) opened the tournament with tying her career-low of 78 and followed up with a second round 88. Reed ended the tournament with a 166, three shots behind Devore in 17th place.
Sophomore
Meg Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) improved from a first round 91 to score 83 in the second round on Monday. Saffell's 36-hole total was 174.
Ohio Dominican will wrap up the Fall season with an appearance at the Davenport Fall Invite at Stonehenge Golf Course on Saturday (Oct. 14) and Sunday (Oct. 15).
