CANTON, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers women's soccer team put an end to their three game slide and returned to Sunbury Road with a key three points on Tuesday (Oct. 3) night.
Ohio Dominican brought home a 1-0 win over the Malone Pioneers at Pioneer Park, giving the Panthers a 3-4-3 overall record and 2-3-1 in the G-MAC with seven conference points.
The first half was a scoreless battle, with the Panthers winning the shot battle 6-3.
Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) made three saves in the final 20 minutes of the first half. Six different players took shots for the Panthers, with
Roisin Kennedy (Delaware, Ohio) having the lone on target shot.
Ohio Dominican got the first two shots of the second half from
Devin Schoenberger (Redondo Beach, California) before
Meghan Coakley (Sylvania, Ohio) scored in the 52nd minute after a corner kick. Schoenberger assisted on the goal for her second assist of the season.
Kaitlin Grady (Twinsburg, Ohio) made four crucial saves to keep the Panthers in the lead in the second half.
The Panthers looked to add a second goal in the 87th minute on a shot on goal by
Alex Garver (Springboro, Ohio) but Malone saved that shot.
Schoenberger had three shots as ODU led the shot category 12-7 overall after a 6-4 advantage in the second half. Malone had seven shots on goal, compared to ODU's four.
McNerney and Grady combined for their third clean sheet of the season.
Ohio Dominican will host the Tiffin Dragons on Saturday (Oct. 7) night at 8:00 PM for a Homecoming matchup at Panther Stadium.
