COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Thursday evening, the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team hosted Ky. Wesleyan for the bottom end of the doubleheader. The Black and Gold trailed early but dominated in the second half to finish with a 3-3 draw.
Freshman
Evan Reppeto (South Lebanon, Ohio) got it started in the 6
th minute with his first shot of the night, missing high. Ky. Wesleyan followed with three shots and three corner kicks before finding the back of the net in the 18
th minute to go ahead, 1-0.
KWC grew their lead to 2-0 in the 23
rd minute. A trio of Panthers fired off shots in the closing minutes of the half, missing the mark to leave ODU down 2-0 at the break.
In the second half, Reppeto sent a corner kick into the box, resulting in a header goal for
Brad Leonard (Westerville, Ohio) to make it 2-1. Senior
Cory Pulles (Pickerington, Ohio) snagged his first save of the night in the 51
st minute off a KWC shot. In the 65
th minute, Leonard netted his second goal off a ricochet from
Mubelele Mhango (Blantyre, Malawi), giving him an assist.
The Black and Gold pulled ahead in the 790
th minute after
Jace Houck (Tipp. City, Ohio) recorded his first career goal off a free kick pass from
Jacob Gruber (Westerville, Ohio). The Purple Panthers added their third goal in the 85
th minute, tying it at 3-all. Neither team saw another opportunity, leaving the match tied, 3-3.
