PAINESVILLE, Ohio – On Tuesday afternoon, the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team traveled to Lake Erie College. The Storm pushed past the Panthers to win 4-2.
Freshman
Evan French (Canal Winchester, Ohio) got things started in the opening seconds with a shot, missing high. In the next 10 minutes, the Storm fired off three shots, resulting in one save for goalkeeper
Cory Pulles (Pickerington, Ohio). Lake Erie continued strong on the offensive end, taking three more shots before connecting with the back of the net in the 30
th minute.
Forward
Mubelele Mhango (Blantyre, Malawi) tried putting the Black and Gold on the board before the intermission with his own shot in the 36
th minute. The LEC keeper was there for the stop, notching his first save of the match.
Roles were reversed in the second half with Lake Erie starting fast, collecting their second goal in the first 30 seconds. Sophomore
Jack Jenkins (Canal Winchester, Ohio) converted a penalty kick to make the score 2-1 in the 53
rd minute. Pulles snagged two more saves before the Storm went up 3-1 in the 61
st minute.
LEC extended their lead to 4-1 in the 69
th minute. Less than 10 minutes later, French cut the Panthers deficit in half by knocking in his third goal of the season. In the final 15 minutes, three different players accounted for four shots, trying for a last minute rally, but missed the mark. Pulles ended the match with five saves.
