Women's Basketball Takes A Business trip South To Open February

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team heads south in the first weekend of February to clash with the Panthers of Ky. Wesleyan and the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene.

The Black and Gold currently hold a record of 6-13 with a 3-9 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after being bested by the University of Findlay Oilers last weekend.

Opening Tip-Off

  • For back-to-back contests, junior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) has posted 21-point performances, leading the team for the 14th time this season. Against the Oilers, Stare dished out five assists and snagged three steals. The guard also went a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.
  • Following her was freshman Sarah Ochs (Beavercreek, Ohio) with a new career-high of 15 points. Ochs went 6-10 from the field and led the Panthers with six rebounds. Ochs matched Stare in collecting three steals Saturday afternoon.
  •  Fellow freshman Madelyn Fearon (Greenville, Ohio) and Macy Chapman (Hilliard, Ohio) combined for 17 points. Both guards went 3-8 from the floor.
  • Off the bench, Shannon Wojciak (Medina, Ohio), grabbed four boards and registered a personal best of five points in the contest.

About Ky. Wesleyan

  • The Panthers are 16-4 overall with a 12-1 record in the conference, slating them second in the conference standings. The team is 7-0 on their home court for the season before hosting the Black and Gold on Thursday.
  • KWC leads the conference in steals per game with 10.5 and in turnovers forced per game with 20.5. The Panthers average 70.1 ppg while shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from behind the arc.
  • Two players average double-figures: Tahlia Walton with 13.1 ppg and Cali Nolot with 11.8 ppg.
  • The Panthers currently have the edge in the Division II Era all-time series with a 6-3 record over the Black and Gold.

About Trevecca Nazarene

  • The Trojans have an overall record of 14-7 and a 10-4 mark in the Great Midwest, good enough for third in the standings. TNU holds a 9-0 home record with both Ky. Wesleyan (Jan. 31) and Ohio Dominican (Feb. 4) coming to town this week.
  • Trevecca averages 67.4 ppg on 42.5 percent shooting from the floor and 32.4 percent shooting from downtown.
  • Three Trojans average double-digit scoring, led by Keeley Carter (17.6), followed by Emma Palmer (12.3) and Lili Wilken (10.5). Palmer is also second in the G-MAC with 17 blocks and first, averaging three offensive rebounds per game.
  • ODU reigns over TNU in the Division II Era all-time series with a 7-2 record.

Tip-off is set for 6:30 PM EST from Owensboro, Ky. on Thursday evening and 2:00 PM EST from Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday afternoon.
