The Black And Gold Wrap Up January With One Last Road Game At Findlay

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team closes out the month of January with one last road trip to northwest Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

The Black and Gold (6-12, 3-8 G-MAC) will face off against the Oilers of Findlay (4-15, 1-10 G-MAC) for the first time this season on Jan. 28 from Niekamp Arena.

Opening Tip-Off

  • For the 13th time this season and the 33rd time in her career, Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) led the Panthers in scoring in both contests last weekend with a 17 and 21 point performance. The junior combined for seven rebounds, three assists, and went 12-13 from the charity stripe.
  • Following Stare was freshman Macy Chapman (Hilliard, Ohio), scoring 15 points against Ursuline and 14 points against Walsh. Chapman tied her career-high of four steals in 63-50 win over the Arrows. The Guard snagged a combined 13 boards and dished out five assists over the weekend.
  • Freshman point guard, Sarah Ochs (Beavercreek, Ohio) netted 13 points on Thursday, going 4-7 from downtown. Ochs registered a career-best of five assists and seven rebounds.
  • Winning both jump balls over the weekend was forward Logan Pride (Twinsburg, Ohio). The freshman led the team in rebounds both games, grabbing seven against UC and eight against WU. Ohio Dominican outrebounded both teams, 33 to 24 Thursday and 38 to 29 Saturday.
  • The Panthers held Ursuline to a season low of seven points in the first quarter.
  • The Black and Gold are shooting 43 percent from the field and 39 percent from behind the arc.

About Findlay

  • The Oilers currently sit at 4-15 overall and 1-10 in the Great Midwest under newly appointed head coach Michele Durand. UF is on a 10-game losing streak with a 2-7 home record before hosting Ursuline on Thursday and Ohio Dominican on Saturday.
  • The Orange and Black are led by junior Kate Ellis, who averages 12.2 ppg. Ellis is among the top ten in the conference in free throw percentage, free throw attempts, and defensive rebounds per game.
  • Findlay currently holds the lead in the Division II Era series, 13-12, and are 7-6 on their home court against Ohio Dominican. ODU defeated UF at Niekamp Arena back on Jan. 28, 2021, 88-82.
  • In the last meeting between the two, the Panthers took the Oilers to overtime at Alumni Hall, scrapping together a 75-69 win on senior day a season ago.
  • The Oilers average 58.5 ppg, shooting 39.5 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from behind the arc.
