Baseball Travels to Northeast Ohio for G-MAC Series at Malone

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coming off a midweek doubleheader sweep of Indianapolis, the Ohio Dominican baseball team is set to return to Great Midwest play on the road this weekend at Malone.

SERIES INFO

  • The Panthers and Pioneers will play doubleheaders at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30.
  • Friday is slated for a noon start to the doubleheader, while first pitch is 3 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Live stats will be available for all four games, with live video provided by Malone University sports information for Saturday's games.

PANTHER NOTES

  • ODU received solid pitching performances from Billy Criblez (Mantua, Ohio) and Michael Lesiecki (Uhrichsville, Ohio) on Tuesday to sweep UIndy at home, 13-3 and 2-1.
  • The Panthers also hit four home runs in the doubleheader, all in Game One, including a pair from Jake Daniel (Troy, Ohio).
  • With the sweep, ODU will enter this weekend with a 17-25 overall record.
  • The Panthers are 8-16 in G-MAC play, and enter the Malone series 5.0 games back from Findlay for the final G-MAC Tournament qualifying spot (Only 6 schools qualify in 2022).
  • Daniel now paces the Panther offense with a .328 average and 25 RBI. The senior also has a team-best 12 multi-hit performances this spring.
  • Michael Knapp (Elyria, Ohio) is batting .321 in his first season with the Black & Gold and has a team-high 43 hits and 30 runs scored.
  • Jordan Daniels (Blacklick, Ohio) and Michael McFadden (Brunswick, Ohio) have reached base safely in 10 and 9 consecutive games, respectively, entering the weekend series in Northeast Ohio.
  • Derek Bolander (Oregon, Ohio) earned his fifth save of the season during the UIndy doubleheader, while also lowering his team-best ERA to 1.10. Bolander has conceded nine hits and two earned runs, while striking out 216 batters over 16.1 innings of work this season.
  • Scott Rouse (Hinckley, Ohio) and Brendan Hofacre (Chardon, Ohio) have made the most starts for the staff, 10 and 8, respectively. Rouse is tied for the team high with three wins and has a 3.90 ERA. Hofacre is 2-1 with a 5.61 ERA.

ABOUT MALONE

  • Malone is 16-26 overall and 7-17 in the G-MAC.
  • The Pioneers are 2-12 at home, coming off a 10-3 loss at Thurman Munson to Walsh on Wednesday.
  • Last weekend, Malone earned 3-of-4 wins at Lake Erie.
  • ODU is 11-15 versus Malone since 2011, the start of the Panthers' Division II era, and split a four-game set in Northeast Ohio last spring.
