Panthers Claim Second Consecutive Win, Top Trojans 75-65

Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball claimed their second consecutive victory Friday evening, downing Trevecca Nazarene by a score of 75-65. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday evening but was postponed out of an abundance of caution in response to Winter Storm Landon.

Despite the cold conditions outside of Alumni Hall the Panthers shooting warmed up to an impressive 70% in the third quarter to power the Black and Gold to victory.

ODU started slow in the first quarter but began to warm up in the second quarter. Freshman Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) continued her offensive heroics as she paced the Panthers with nine points at the intermission. Guard Lindsey Sauerland (Lebanon, Ohio) tallied a key three-pointer en route to scoring a career-high nine points on Friday evening.

The Panthers warmed up in the third quarter shooting 70% and the attack was spearheaded by Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio). The junior guard was 3-of-4 shooting from the field, converting three three-point attempts. Stare and Sauerland were perfect from the field during the third quarter as the hosts claimed a nine-point lead at the end of the quarter.

Trevecca attempted to mount a comeback against the hosts as Keeley Carter and Emma Palmer led the charge for the Trojans in the final frame. The duo combined for 11 of the visitor's final 14 points. The Panther lead grew to as large as 12 points as Camryn Pickerill (Seaman, Ohio) picked the pocket of an opposing player and fed Stare who converted the layup.

The Trojans whittled the lead down to as little as eight points but key free throws from Schlabach and Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio) late in the contest proved enough to lift the Black and Gold to their second straight win.

UP NEXT

It's a quick turnaround for the Black and Gold as they face off against Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday, February 5 at 1 PM.
