Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio — The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team had four members score in double figures but could not overcome a sellout crowd on the road at Cedarville, as the Yellow Jackets scored the final six points in a 70-64 contest Saturday afternoon.
Alek West (Sylvania, Ohio) led ODU with 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) and Nate Webb (Lafayette, Ind.) added 16 and 10 points in the starting lineup, respectively. Off the bench, Mike Knoll (Medina, Ohio) pitched in 11 points and six rebounds.
The Panthers made just two of their first seven field goals attempts and saw Cedarville race out to a 16-5 advantage just over six minutes into play. ODU though, rallied with a 15-5 run, including seven points from West to close its deficit to five points, 30-25, with 5:07 remaining in the first half.
Cedarville never trailed in the first half and enjoyed a 39-31 advantage at the intermission.
The Panthers continued to claw back to start the second half and closed the deficit to one possession, 42-39, less than three minutes in. A layup from Szul at 9:16 gave ODU its first lead of the game at 52-51.
The two sides were deadlocked at 64-all in the closing minutes, but Cedarville held the Panthers scoreless the final 2:30 of play to secure the 70-64 victory.
Ohio Dominican will return to Alumni Hall for its final home game of the winter Thursday, Feb. 24. The Panthers will host Walsh at 7:30 p.m. on Senior Night.
