Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team saw guards Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) and Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) collect season-high scoring totals, but it wasn't enough to power the Panthers past Trevecca Nazarene on Monday evening. The Black and Gold concluded the southern road trip, falling 81-65 in the Music City.
Stare's 28-point performance eclipses her previous season-best of 21 points set on December 14 against West Liberty. She shot a robust 45-percent from the field and knabbed seven boards. The guard also visited the free-throw line where she converted seven of her nine attempts.
Schlabach finished Monday's contest with 25 points. A mark that eclipses her previous season-best of 20, set against Saginaw Valley State University on November 16. The fourth-year guard tallied six points in the first and third quarters respectively but finished strong to tally 10 points in the final stanza.
ODU opened the contest scoring 21 points in the first quarter, the highest mark achieved in the opening period all season. The Panthers stayed stride for stride with the Trojans and trailed by only three points at the end of the first quarter.
A slow start to the second quarter saw the Black and Gold shoot just 21.7% from the field, allowing the hosts to put distance on the Panthers and increase the lead to 12 points at the break.
Stare went to work in the third quarter, tallying 13 of her 18 points and closing the lead down to just six points. Unfortunately, the Panthers shooting percentage dipped to 26.7% in the final quarter, allowing the Trojans to extend their lead and lift the hosts to victory.
