Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio -- Three players finished in double figures, but the Ohio Dominican men's basketball team dropped a road Great Midwest contest at Tiffin Saturday afternoon, 79-66.
Alek West (Sylvania, Ohio) led ODU in all three major statistical categories with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists. West made 7-of-13 field goals, including a pair of triples.
Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half and made a team-high three shots from behind the arc. Caleb Strohmeier (Edwardsville, Ill.) pitched in a season-high 11 points off the bench.
West scored 11 of ODU's first 16 points, as the Panthers (4-13, 2-8 G-MAC) led the Dragons by a count of 16-14 with seven minutes into play. Tiffin though, made nine three pointers in the first half and a 10-0 scoring spurt engineered a 27-12 run for Tiffin to close the final 10 minutes of the period. The Dragons led 45-30 at the intermission.
Tiffin (6-11, 2-8 G-MAC) pushed its advantage to as many as 23 points in the second half. Ohio Dominican did not allow a Dragon field goal in the final 3:52, closing its deficit to 13 points, 79-66.
Ohio Dominican begins a week of three home games with a 5:30 p.m. tip against Lake Erie on Monday, Jan. 24.
