Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team opened its 2021 season on the road against the University of Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon.
ODU were the aggressors early on, outshooting the Greyhounds by a margin of 6-4 in the first half. Forwards Bailey Sedlak (Bellbrook, Ohio) and Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) led the charge for the Panthers, each registering a shot in the opening stanza.
Midfielder Emily Wittekind (Cincinnati, Ohio) had the best scoring opportunity for the Black and Gold when her shot in the 12th minute forced a save from UIndy goalkeeper Jenna Taghikhani. The Greyhounds answered with two quick opportunities to close out the first half, one of which forced sophomore goalkeeper Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) to make her only save of the match.
UIndy mustered an attack in the second half as Kiki Sauceda and Alexi Hardie combined for a pair of quick opportunities for the Greyhounds. Sauceda broke through in the 64th minute as her goal gave the hosts a 1-0 lead.
The Panthers tried to answer quickly as Sedlak unleashed a shot that hit the right post but couldn't find its way in. Both teams traded chances throughout the latter portion of the second half but ODU couldn't find an equalizer and fell by the score of 1-0.

The Black and Gold return to Sunbury Road on Thursday evening, battling No. 6 Lee University. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 5 PM.
