Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team opened its Great Midwest Athletic Conference schedule on Thursday evening hosting Cedarville University.
Both teams traded chances during the opening moments of the contest as each club looked for ways to collect their first victory of the young season. Midfielder Jenna Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) had the Black and Gold's best chance of the first half as her shot at the top of the box was parried away by Yellow Jackets goalkeeper Brook Ackley in the eighth minute.
Junior Makenna Greer (Pickerington, Ohio) registered another quality opportunity as her shot attempt required an acrobatic save from Ackley as the visiting goalkeeper pushed the ball above the bar to force a corner kick.
Goalkeeper Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) continued to impress as she collected two of her seven saves with just over a half-hour remaining in the second half. The second-year backstop finished the game-tying her season for saves with seven.
Cedarville collected the game-winning goal with less than five minutes remaining as Aleah Martone gathered a pass from Payton Fraley to beat the Panther defense and tallying the game's only goal in the 85th minute.
The late Yellow Jacket goal made it difficult for the Panthers to mount a comeback as the hosts fell 1-0.
