COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican softball team hits the road for the final time during the 2021 regular season, traveling to Kentucky Wesleyan College and Trevecca Nazarene University. ODU opens play on Sunday afternoon in Owensboro, before concluding the road trip in Nashville on Monday afternoon.
The Black and Gold return to the field following a doubleheader sweep against Ohio Valley University on Saturday, April 17. Freshman shortstop Alexis Stevens (Marion, Ohio) provided a spark on offense during the series. Stevens hit for a .714 batting average with one triple and two stolen bases.
Sophomore Braxton Downs (Prospect, Kentucky) enjoyed a 3-for-3 performance in game one, hitting one home run, and driving in five runs.
UNDER CONSIDERATION
ODU was one of just three teams in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference that was named "under consideration" for the Midwest region. The Panthers split the honor with Hillsdale College and Trevecca.
IN THE STANDINGS
The Black and Gold sit in third position in the G-MAC standings and could leap to second with a sweep over the Trojans on Monday afternoon.
SCOUTING KENTUCKY WESELYAN
The Purple Panthers come into the weekend with a record of 11-18 overall and 4-8 in conference play. KWC looks to bounce back following splitting a series with the University of Southern Indiana.
