Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team returned to action on Thursday evening looking to improve its lead in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference standings and they did just that. The Black and Gold secured an important 1-0 victory over Walsh University inside the friendly confines of Panther Stadium.
ODU wasted no time finding the scoresheet. The Panthers earned one of their 11 corner kicks in the sixth minute of play. Service came into the area with several Black and Gold players getting a touch on the ball. A shot from Karissa Weekley (Zanesville, Ohio) pinged around inside of the area before defender Hannah Knobloch (Hilliard, Ohio) danced around her marks to hammer it home to claim a 1-0 lead.
The goal was Knobloch's first since September 2018 on the road against Ursuline College.
The Panthers blitzed the Walsh defensive third, unloading 18 shots on the Cavalier goal. Midfielder Emily Wittekind (Cincinnati, Ohio) paced the Panthers with four shots, while Makenna Greer (Pickerington, Ohio) added three shots, and the trio of Mari Silvestri (Solon, Ohio), Callan Myers (Hillsboro, Ohio), and Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) each had a pair of shots.
Goalkeeper Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) made just three saves and saw her goals-against-average shrink to 0.284 which is the 19th best in the nation.
