Sedlak and Myers Collect Braces As Women's Soccer Scores Five At KWC

Box Score

OWENSBORO, Kentucky – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team flexed their offensive might, scoring five goals on the road against Kentucky Wesleyan College on Thursday evening. The Black and Gold outshot the hosts 18-10, with half of their shots finding the target.

Forward Callan Myers (Hillsboro, Ohio) looked to carry over the momentum established during Saturday's win against Findlay. The sophomore registered the first ODU shot on target in the eighth minute, challenging KWC goalkeeper Reegan Garrity to make the save.

Senior Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) also challenged the Purple Panthers goalkeeper, registering two quality chances in a four-minute span. ODU broke through in the 36th minute as freshman Bailey Sedlak (Bellbrook, Ohio) tallied her first collegiate goal to give the visitors the 1-0 advantage.

Head coach Reilee DuPratt and her club took their lead into the locker room at the intermission but would waste little time finding the score sheet in the second half. Buck broke loose of the KWC defense and slammed the ball into the back of the net to double the Black and Gold lead to 2-0.

Twelve minutes later Myers found the scoresheet, not once, but twice. The junior buried two goals in the span of a minute to grow the lead to 4-0. Sedlak would assist on Myers' first goal and sophomore Morgan Kirk (Findlay, Ohio) would grab the assist on the junior's second tally.

Sedlak secured her brace in the 78th minute, blowing past the KWC defense and beating the Purple Panthers goalkeeper to her right-hand side as the lead grew to 5-0.

Goalkeeper Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) made three saves and senior Alivia Tavernier (Bellbrook, Ohio) logged nearly 20 minutes of action and collected two saves to preserve the Panther shutout and the 5-0 victory.

GOALS

The five goals tallied by Ohio Dominican on Thursday night are the most scored by the program since the Black and Gold tallied eight goals against Aldersson Broaddus on October 3, 2019. The last time ODU claimed a 5-0 victory on the road came at the expense of Northwood University in September 2015.

UP NEXT

The Black and Gold continue their southern swing heading for Nashville, Tennessee where they will battle Trevecca Nazarene University.

Kickoff from the Music City is scheduled for 3:30 PM EST.
