Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team continued its early season success by capturing a 1-0 victory over the University of Findlay on Saturday evening. The win moves the Panthers record to 2-0-1 on the season and gives head coach Reilee DuPratt her first win as head coach on Sunbury Road.
Sophomore Callan Myers (Hillsboro, Ohio) challenged the Oilers defense early, registering a shot on goal in just the second minute of action. She and teammate Makenna Greer (Pickerington, Ohio) peppered Findlay goalkeeper Kennedy Slovak with shots during the opening five minutes but the Oiler goalkeeper held her ground.
Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) joined the offensive assault, registering two quality shots on goal before the quarter of the hour mark. The UF defense would break in the 17th minute as Myers would take a shot from the left side of the penalty area and touch it past Slovak to give the Black and Gold the 1-0 lead and their first goal at home this season.
The goal marked the first time Myers found the net since a 2-0 victory on the road at Tiffin on October 10, 2019.
Findlay tried to answer in the 31st minute as Adele Stradling drove a shot toward goalkeeper Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) but the Panther backstop denied the opportunity. The visitors tried to mount a comeback during the second half, challenging McNerney to make six saves but the Black and Gold defense held strong to see through the victory.
SHUTOUT STREAK
The Panthers are the only team in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference that has not conceded a goal during the 2021 spring season. The Black and Gold have a shutout streak that has lasted 290 minutes and are tied with nine other teams in NCAA Division II who have not allowed a goal yet this season.
