COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team looks to extend its home unbeaten streak to 15 games when they welcome visiting Lake Erie College to Alumni Hall Saturday afternoon. Saturday's game will be the regular-season home finale for the Black and Gold as the February 22 contest against Trevecca has been postponed and will not be made up.
ODU captured its 14th consecutive win in a row at home Monday night, beating Hillsdale College 87-69. It was a tremendous game from junior Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio), she converted six three-point field goals to finish with a career-high 18 points.
Monday also was a great day for senior Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio) as she finished with 10 points and tallied seven assists during Monday's win. The Black and Gold hope for a similar performance when they go for the season sweep against the Storm on Saturday afternoon.
MILESTONE WATCH
Junior Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) sits just four three-point field goals away from the most made during a Panther career. Standing in her way is alumna Alexa Fisher, who finished with 178 in her three years at Sunbury Road.
Schlabach already owns the most three-pointers in a single season when she converted 68 during her freshman campaign. She also sits one assist shy of having the most in a single season in the Division II era.
SCOUTING THE STORM
The door has closed for Lake Erie as the chances of them making the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament seem quite bleak, but despite their poor record, the Storm have a chance to play spoiler to the league's top teams. LEC finishes the season with contests against ODU, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Walsh, which are all teams jockeying for seeding in the upcoming conference tournament.
Despite their struggles, Lake Erie has a pair of players contributing on the offensive side of the ball. Sophomore Sydney Wyngarden leads the team in scoring with 11.4 PPG and senior Breanna Bauer supports her with 11.1 PPG.
