Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team battled No. 11 Hillsdale Wednesday evening, but fell late 65-54.
INDIVIDUAL NUMBERS
- Freshman Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) made 7-of-9 shots for a team-high 16 points. Szul added six rebounds and made two of his three attempts from behind the arc.
- Setting a career high with nine assists was sophomore Alek West (Sylvania, Ohio). The nine assists mark a new season-high for any Panther player this year. West scored eight of his 11 points in the second half.
- Junior Caleb Strohmeier (Edwardsville, Ill.) scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half. Strohmeier also led ODU with seven rebounds.
- Collecting five points and five assists was sophomore Sean Marks (Delaware, Ohio).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was played in a seven-point window, with Hillsdale and ODU leading by as many as five and two points, respectively.
- The Panthers led 8-6 after back-to-back baskets from Szul at the 14:43 mark.
- Hillsdale knocked down a jumper as time expired in the half to take a 28-26 lead into the break.
- Strohmeier's hook shot on the first possession of the second half tied the game at 28-all, but ODU never led over the final 20 minutes of play.
- After ODU tied the contest, Hillsdale responded with an 11-4 run to go in front 39-32. The Chargers pushed their advantage to as many as 12 points in the second half.
- Both teams made 25 field goals and four three pointers, but Hillsdale was 11-for-14 at the foul line while ODU did not attempt a foul shot.

- Ohio Dominican will look to get back on track when it hosts Lake Erie at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20.
