Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team fell victim to a 28-6 second half scoring run by Tiffin Saturday afternoon, dropping the Great Midwest contest at home, 65-52.
The Panthers were led by Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) with 13 points. Szul, who came off the bench, added five rebounds and two assists. Sean Marks (Delaware, Ohio) posted 12 points. Max Stepaniak (Ross, Ohio) pitched in nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
A low scoring first half saw ODU hold the advantage at the intermission, 26-21. The Panthers held a lead for 14 of the 20 minutes, and were led by Marks' nine first half points. Ohio Dominican held Tiffin to 9-of-32 shooting in the first half, 28.1 percent.
The Panthers pushed their advantage to as many as eight points early in the second half, but the aforementioned run by the Dragons gave Tiffin a 56-41 advantage with 8:27 to play. A layup from Alek West (Sylvania, Ohio) closed the ODU deficit to single digits, 61-52, with just over two minutes remaining.
The Panthers had open looks from behind the arc late but could not capitalize as Tiffin held on for the 65-52 decision.
After shooting under 30 percent in the first half, Tiffin made 13-of-26 field goal attempts (.500) in the second stanza. Conversely, ODU shot just 33.3 percent in the half, including a 1-for-12 effort from three-point range.
Ohio Dominican will look to bounce back when they travel to face nationally ranked Hillsdale at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9.
