Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn – Despite a goal from Ryanne Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) in the 61st minute and a stellar defensive showing anchored by seniors Alaina Behnke (Lima, Ohio) and Hannah Knobloch (Hilliard, Ohio) the Black and Gold fell to Trevecca Nazarene in a penalty shootout on Saturday afternoon in Nashville.
The Panthers outshot the Trojans by a 6-2 margin in the first half. Junior Emily Wittekind (Cincinnati, Ohio) got the first quality scoring opportunity for the Panthers in 27th minute, forcing a save from goalkeeper Delayna Holman. Freshman Celia Scott (Beavercreek, Ohio) followed up with a shot that rattled the crossbar but nearly broke through in the 32nd minute.
ODU got the opening goal of the contest in the 61st minute when Ryanne Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) converted her opportunity when she collected a pass from Jenna Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) and put it into the Trojan goal for a 1-0 lead.
Trevecca answered in the 67th minute when Abbigail Legg converted a penalty kick to level the game at 1-1. Neither team could decide the game in regulation and after two periods of overtime and penalty kicks were needed. TNU won the penalty kick shootout 6-5 and advance to the G-MAC semifinal against Ashland University.
