Schlabach Tallies 20 Points In Season Opener

Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Guard Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) tallied a season-high 20 points but it wasn't enough as the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team fell to Saginaw Valley State University 52-49 on Tuesday night inside Alumni Hall.

Both clubs were slow out of the blocks, scoring a combined eight points in the first quarter. Schlabach came alive in the second quarter tallying 11 points to give the Panthers a lead. The guard was 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and perfect from the charity stripe to give her squad a 23-15 lead heading into the locker room at the break.

The Cardinals answered with a strong second-half showing, led by Tori DePerry who scored 14 of her team-high 18 points to power the visitors into the lead. SVSU playing much of the second half in transition tallying 14 fast break points.

Senior Bailey Williams (Dublin, Ohio) continued her impressive run of form scoring 10 of her 13 points during the third and fourth quarter. She also shot 75% from beyond the arc but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback as the Panthers fell 52-49.
