BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team dropped the second half of a back-to-back on Saturday afternoon to Drury, 84-69.
For the second straight game, Marcus Johnson (Columbus, Ohio) reached double figures off the bench, leading ODU on Saturday night with 15 points. Sean Marks (Delaware, Ohio) added 10 points as a reserve, as 44 of the Panthers' 69 points came from the bench.
Brandon Gibson II (Dayton, Ohio) gave the Panthers an 18-16 lead with 11:32 remaining in the first half, but Drury would score 14 points off 12 first half turnovers by ODU and take a 45-31 lead into the intermission.
Overall, ODU (0-2) finished with 19 turnovers, which resulted in 22 points for Drury (1-0). DU was also the second opponent in as many nights to shoot 50 percent or better against the Black & Gold.
The Panthers trailed throughout the second half and despite scoring 11 of the final 17 points of the game, fell in the neutral site matchup.
Mitch Wilkinson (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Nate Webb (Lafayette, Ind.) each scored eight points in the game, with the latter adding six rebounds. Arius Jones (Lansing, Mich.) paced the Panthers with seven rebounds, while Alek West (Sylvania, Ohio) dished out a team-high six assists.
Ohio Dominican will look to regroup before traveling to the Mountain State for a pair of games on Nov. 17 and 18. The Panthers begin the two-game, two-day run at Alderson Broaddus on Nov. 17, with a 7 p.m. scheduled tipoff.
