A Flurry Of Goals As Women's Soccer Downs Lake Erie On Senior Day

Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Forward Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) collected her first brace since October 2019 to help power Ohio Dominican women's soccer to a 4-0 victory against Lake Erie College on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the contest, head coach Reilee DuPratt and members of the Black and Gold honored five members of the senior class for their accomplishments at Ohio Dominican. Mari Silvestri (Solon, Ohio), Hannah Knobloch (Hilliard, Ohio), Katlyn Jamiel (Wilmington, Ohio), Jenna Szabo (Worthington, Ohio), and Alaina Behnke (Lima, Ohio) were all honored prior to this afternoon's contest.

ODU were quick out of the gates as Buck tallied her first goal just 59 seconds into the contest. She collected a rebound from Knobloch and buried it into the back of the net to give her squad the 1-0 advantage. Lake Erie tried to respond but only challenged goalkeeper Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) once forcing her just one save during the first half of play.

The Panthers peppered the Lake Erie goal with 11 shots during the first half of play and forced Storm goalkeeper Rachel Weber to turn away seven shots during the opening half.

The Black and Gold struck twice in a span of 39 seconds as Emily Wittekind (Cincinnati, Ohio) hammered in a shot from distance and Buck received a pass from Callan Myers (Hillsboro, Ohio) and lofted it over the visiting goalkeeper to swell the lead to 3-0.

LEC nearly grabbed a goal back off a corner kick. Baylor Fortune collected a loose ball in the penalty area, but it was cleared off the line by Makenna Greer (Pickerington, Ohio) to preserve the Panther lead.

Myers attempted to extend the ODU lead in the 60thminute but was denied by Weber. She along with the rest of the Black and Gold forwards harassed the Storm backline and were rewarded for their efforts in the 86th minute.

Junior Kiyha Adkins (Troy, Ohio) collected a pass from Buck and was in one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The third-year forward took her shot and calmly placed it into the net to extend the lead to 4-0. That goal proved too much and lifted the Black and Gold to its second straight victory at home this season.
