ASHLAND, Ohio -- For the third consecutive week, the Ohio Dominican football team used a strong fourth quarter to earn a road win, this time outscoring Ashland 17-3 over the final 15 minutes in a 34-24 triumph on Saturday night.
Dawning white helmets for just the third time in program history, the Panthers won their fifth straight game of the fall season to improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Great Midwest. Ohio Dominican has also won 10 consecutive road games, which is the third longest active streak in Division II.

Ohio Dominican scored on three of its five first half possessions and led 17-14 at the intermission.

Senior David Turner (Fort Wayne, Ind.) capped a 14-play opening drive for ODU with a 10-yard touchdown reception from classmate Evan Ernst (Mason, Ohio).

Turner then had a pair of long punt returns, 47 and 22 yards, to set up the following two scores for the Panthers.

Ashland used its first offensive possession of the second half to go 14 plays, including 11 rush attempts, to recapture the lead, 21-17, with under seven minutes showing on the third period clock.

The Eagles were driving again on their next possession, but an interception from senior Desdamon Lake (Youngstown, Ohio), followed by his 45-yard return setup another score for the ODU offense.

Ernst paid off the turnover with a one-yard touchdown pass to Spencer Klopfenstein (Troy, Ohio) on the first play of the fourth quarter. ODU led 24-21.

The Panthers and Eagles traded field goals, with Quackenbush's attempt from 41 yards giving the Black & Gold a 27-24 advantage with 5:49 to play.

Both Ashland and ODU traded punts, giving the Eagles possession down three points with 50 seconds remaining.

The Panthers posted back-to-back sacks from Aarin Smoot-Baker (Columbus, Ohio) and Eddie Miller-Garrett (Newark, N.J.), with the latter forcing a fumble. Jaylin Garner (Shaker Heights, Ohio) scooped up the fumble returned it five yards for a touchdown.

Ashland outgained ODU, 333-283 in total offense, but the Panthers did enjoy an 80-yard edge in passing offense.

Ernst accounted for three scores and completed 18-of-25 passes for 201 yards.

Turner caught seven passes for 57 yards and one score. The senior wideout accounted for 188 all-purpose yards.

James Morgan (Columbus, Ohio) hauled in five passes for 74 yards, his fourth game this fall with five receptions.

Defensively, Dauson Dales (Defiance, Ohio) set a career high and fell one tackle short of the all-time single game record. One week after breaking the ODU all-time career tackle record, Dales finished with 19 total stops at Ashland.

Jayden Hill (Gahanna, Ohio) set a career high with 10 tackles.

Miller-Garrett had two of ODU's four sacks in the game, finishing with seven total stops and the forced fumble.
