Box Score ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team took the short drive up Interstate 71 to battle Great Midwest Athletic Conference newcomer Ashland University on Thursday evening in conference play.
Sophomore Kaitlin Grady (Twinsburg, Ohio) collected one of her career-high eight saves immediately in the first minute of play, denying Ashland attacker Bella Petrock of a scoring opportunity 35 seconds into the contest.
Junior Callan Myers (Hillsboro, Ohio) got the Panthers first shot on target 12 minutes in, forcing a save from Ashland goalkeeper Brianna Rogers. Teammate Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) followed up immediately with a shot on target that was just off target.
Ashland earned a corner kick just after the half-hour mark. An in-swinging ball found defender Tori Baker with her shot bouncing off the woodwork. She collected her rebound and slotted it into the net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
The Black and Gold began the second half on the front foot looking to get the equalizing goal. ODU outshot Ashland by a margin of eight to six and didn't allow the opposition a corner kick. Grady made three consecutive saves with a half-hour to go to keep her team in the hunt. Buck, Myers, and forward Bailey Sedlak (Bellbrook, Ohio) harassed the Eagles backline in the final moments of the contest but couldn't level the game and fell by the score of 1-0.

ODU returns home to the friendly confines of Sunbury Road to battle Lake Erie College on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM with a ceremony to honor the senior class scheduled to begin ahead of kickoff.
