Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team saw its five-game winning streak snapped during a 3-2 overtime loss against the University of Findlay on Thursday evening.
Findlay began the match quickly looking to establish an advantage. The visitors received quality scoring opportunities from Addie Graham and Madeline Nartker in the opening moments, but goalkeeper Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) made two quick saves to deny the Orange and Black an early advantage.
ODU struck in the 24th minute off a corner kick opportunity. Junior Callan Myers (Hillsboro, Ohio) delivered a ball into the penalty area that found the forehead of Katlyn Jamiel (Wilmington, Ohio) and was delivered into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
UF tried to answer as midfielder Hannah Rybicki uncorked a shot towards the Panthers goal but was denied by McNerney.
Mother Nature influenced the contest in the second half as rain began to fall heavily inside of Panther Stadium. It seemed as the weather changed, so did the goalscoring as both teams scored a combined three goals in a six-minute timeframe.
Findlay's Ellie Tischler tallied the visitor's opening goal as a corner kick from Sam Francis made its way to an unmarked Tischler who converted her opportunity. The Panthers answered in the 73rd minute as Myers collected a pass from Bailey Sedlak (Bellbrook, Ohio) and unleashed a shot from 20 yards out that rippled the netting and gave the hosts a 2-1 lead.
Nine seconds later Tischler tallied another goal as she rocketed a shot into the Black and Gold goal to tie the game at 2-2.
The visitors claimed victory 58 seconds into the second overtime period when Carley Wagasky got on the end of a Sam Francis cross to score the game-winning goal and give the Oilers a 3-2 win.
