GAME NOTES (PDF)
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican women's basketball continues its work away from home this week, facing the University of Findlay on Thursday, January 28, and wrapping up the weekend with Hillsdale College on Saturday, January 30.
The Black and Gold return to action following a brilliant performance against Ohio Valley on Monday evening. ODU traveled to West Virginia and defeated the Fighting Scots by a score of 105-59. Guard Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) spearheaded the attack, scoring 24 points and tying her career-high in three-pointers with six.
The Panther women also tied for their second-highest scoring quarter. ODU's 32 points in the first quarter of Monday's contest was the second-most scored in a period this season with 32, that mark also ties the first quarter against Kentucky Wesleyan on December 17.
Head coach Lynsey Warren and her squad look for the season sweep of Findlay, who they defeated back on January 5. It was a career-high performance for senior Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) who scored a career-high 34 points to secure the victory.
ODU clashes with Hillsdale and that marks the first time they meet new Charger head coach Charlie Averkamp. Saturday's clash will be the first time that he and Coach Warren have met in competition. \
CATCHING UP WITH KENNEDY SCHLABACH
Junior guard Kennedy Schlabach spoke with Sports Information Director Ralph Schudel this week about the Panthers success and the week ahead.
The Oilers come into Thursday's contest 6-6 on the year. While they may just be .500 on the year, they have gathered five wins at home inside of Croy Gymnasium. Findlay is led by junior forward Sidney Kin, who averages 22.3 point-per-game and 10.2 rebounds-per-game and was named G-MAC Player of the Week on January 11.
It's been a rough start to the Charlie Averkamp era for the Chargers but nothing a victory couldn't remedy. Hillsdale sits near the bottom of the G-MAC but has always been a thorn in the side of the Panthers. The Black and Gold are 8-9 all-time versus their foes from Michigan and just .500 inside of Potter Arena.
Despite their struggles, junior guard Grace Touchette is enjoying a solid season. She averages 14.8 points-per-game which is ninth-best in the conference. Touchette gets assistance from Sydney Mills and Lauren Daffenberg who average 11.5 and 11.1 points-per-game respectively.
