Stare and Panthers Shine, Run Home Unbeaten Streak To Ten Games

Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four Panthers finished in double figures as the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team improved its home unbeaten streak to 10 games with an 83-68 victory over Tiffin University Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Hall.

The Panthers shot just 31-percent in the opening frame, before seeing their shooting percentage balloon to an incredible 77-percent in the second quarter. Freshman Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) was a driving force for the Black and Gold early on, tallying 11 of her 20 points in the first half. She did the majority of her damage during the second quarter, as the first-year player was perfect from the field (4-of-4) and perfect from beyond the arc (2-of-2) to give the Panthers a nine-point lead heading into the intermission.

Not only did ODU enjoy success on the offensive side of the ball, but they did defensive damage as well. The tandem of Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) and Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio) tied the Panthers season-high in blocks with three in just the first half. Kern finished the game with 10 points and set a career-high in blocks with four during the contest. Contributions from Fox and teammate Amanda Schroeder (Dayton, Ohio) gave the Panthers a new team season-high seven blocks during their win Saturday.

Fox also set a new career-best in assists with five.

Junior Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) continued her strong run of form, scoring a team-high 25 points, including a 4-of-9 performance from beyond-the-arc. Schlabach was perfect from the free-throw line, going five-of-five. Over the last three contests, the junior guard has converted 21-of-22 attempts from the charity stripe (95.4%).

Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) finished Saturday's contest with 16 points and four rebounds. She secured three rebounds and served as a pest on defense, not allowing the Dragons easy scoring opportunities.

The Black and Gold finished the game strong, shooting no lower than 50% from the field and forcing eight steals to close out the game. This defensive performance prevented a potential Tiffin comeback and carried the Panthers to the victory.

It's a quick rest for the Panthers as they enjoy just one day off before returning to action at Ohio Valley on Monday evening. Tip-off from OVU is scheduled for 5:30 P.M.
