GAME NOTES (PDF)
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nine days removed from its last home contest inside Alumni Hall, the Panthers return to Central Ohio for some home cooking against Tiffin University on Saturday afternoon. ODU has just one day of rest before immediately jumping back into action, hitting the road to take on Ohio Valley on Monday afternoon.
OPENING TIP
The Panthers come into the weekend looking to avenge the loss they suffered against the Dragons on December 5 in Northwest Ohio. The Black and Gold return home where they last enjoyed success against Malone picking up a 82-68 victory.
Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) enjoyed a career day scoring 30 points and tallying four assists. Classmate Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) earned six steals to secure the Panthers fifth victory of the season.
The Black and Gold play a rare Monday game as they head to West Virginia to face Ohio Valley. ODU hasn't lost to the Fighting Scots since January 2011. The Panthers face an OVU team that is playing a condensed schedule after starting their season late due to COVID-19 safety protocols. The Fighting Scots play an Ohio Dominican squad on the back end of a stretch that sees OVU playing five games in nine days.
FOX WATCH
Senior forward Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio) has enjoyed some dominant performances since the calendar flipped to 2021. The Newark native is averaging 16.8 PPG since the calendar flipped, which is 10 points above her career average of 6.2 PPG. Fox also has seen her scoring average balloon to 14.0 PPG during her impressive run of form.
SCOUTING TIFFIN
The Dragons head into Alumni Hall in the midst of their best winning streak of the season. Winners of their last three in a row, Tiffin look to claim the season sweep over the Panthers on Saturday afternoon.
Guard Aarion Nichols continues to pull the strings for the Dragons on offense. The junior guard leads her squad with 14.9 PPG and is the ninth-best scorer in the G-MAC. Teammate Savanah Richards trails Nichols with 14.5 PPG and offers another solid offensive option in the backcourt.
SCOUTING OHIO VALLEY
OVU may have only started their season but they provide some pretty potent threats on offense. Guard Nahia Urturi-Ortiz leads her team with 14.3 PPG. Urturi-Ortiz isn't only well-versed in scoring but is proficient in rebounding, grabbing 6.7 RPG. She has also logged the second-most minutes in the conference averaging 37.57 minute per game, trailing only Ohio Dominican guard Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio).
