Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team fell to Trevecca Nazarene 68-58 on Senior Day in the last contest of the regular season.
Senior Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) led the way for the Panthers recording his 50th career double-double scoring a team-high 18 points and grabbing 14 rebounds with the forward also having a pair of steals. Freshman Sean Marks (Delaware, Ohio) was the only other Panther in double-figures scoring 12 points off the bench.
The Panthers shot just 33.3% from the floor in the contest (22-for-66) while shooting 30% from behind the arc (9-for-30). Trevecca was 42.3% from the floor (22-for-52) and 40% from behind the arc burying 12 out of 30 attempts. The Trojans were also able to seal the game away going 12-for-12 at the free throw line.
The Panthers fell behind early, trailing 17-8 just nine minutes in before an 11-2 Panther run would tie the game at 19 apiece. The Trojans would answer closing the final seven minutes outscoring the Panthers 15-4 to take a 34-24 lead into the break.
Trevecca (6-21, 6-12) opened the second half pushing their lead out to 40-26 before an 8-0 Panther run would cut the deficit to 40-34 with 14:46 remaining. ODU once again cut their deficit to five after a Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio) three with 7:55 remaining but back-to-back threes from Trevecca pushed the lead back out to 11 at 56-45. The closest the Panthers would come would be eight points throughout the remaining seven minutes as Trevecca was 10-for-10 at the free throw line in the second half.
Adam Webb led the Trojans with 21 points and seven rebounds
The Panthers, now 12-16 overall and 8-10 in the conference, will wait to see who they play in the G-MAC quarterfinals announced later tonight on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference social media pages and website.
