Women's Basketball Tops Trevecca Nazarene 86-60

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team had nine players score during an 86-60­ Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory at Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The Panthers only had two players score in double figures, but registered their fifth win in the last sixth outings, improving to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in G-MAC play. Trevecca falls to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in conference action.

Junior Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) paced the Panthers with 21 points, her third performance of 20-pluis points this season. Troyer made 7-of-11 field goals, including three-of-four three-point attempts, while also grabbing a season-high eight rebounds. The junior added three assists as well.

Recording 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting was senior Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio). Fisher drained four-of-six triples and led the team with four assists. The duo of Troyer and Fisher combined to shoot 7-for-10 from behind the arc.

Also in the starting lineup was senior Brittleigh Macaulay (Big Prairie, Ohio), who pitched in nine points and eight rebounds. Off the bench, senior Hannah Clark (Glenmont, Ohio) added eight points, while sophomore Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) logged seven points and a team-best nine rebounds.

ODU got off to a fast start, making four-of-six triples in the first quarter. The combo of Fisher and Troyer also combined for 17 points on six-for-nine shooting, as the Panthers led 24-13 after 10 minutes of play. The Black & Gold closed the first quarter on an 8-2 scoring run.

The Panthers then led by as many 21 points in the second quarter, as a 14-2 scoring spurt extended the advantage to 47-26. The Trojans were able to close their deficit to 18 at half at 47-29.

In the second half, ODU pushed its lead to as many as 33 points early in the fourth quarter, and outscored TNU 39-31 over the final 20 minutes of play. The Panthers enjoyed an 18-8 scoring advantage in the third quarter, where TNU shot just 30.8 percent from the field.

Overall, ODU shot 40 percent from the field, while holding the Trojans to a .368 shooting clip. The Panthers made 10 shots from behind the arc and were 16-for-18 at the charity stripe. Rebounds were in favor of ODU, 55-36.

Ohio Dominican will now have an entire week off before resuming G-MAC play at home against Malone. The Panthers and Pioneers are slated for a 3 p.m. tip on Saturday, Dec. 14, inside Alumni Hall.
