Women's Basketball Coasts Past Ohio Valley at Home

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team returned to Great Midwest action Saturday afternoon defeating Ohio Valley by a final score of 96-72 Saturday afternoon at Alumni Hall.

With the win, ODU advances to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the conference while OVU drops to 0-11 overall and 0-7 in the G-MAC.

Leading the way for the Panthers was freshman Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) as she posted a career-high 22 points on 7-for-13 shooting and 6-for-11 from distance.

Sophomore Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) was one rebound away from a double-double posting 20 points and 9 rebounds. Junior Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) posted 19 points and five assists while senior Alexis Overly (Chillicothe, Ohio) posted 16 points.

ODU shot out to a quick 12-0 lead at the 6:24 mark of the first period and pushed that lead out to 25-9 at the 2:36 mark on a three point basket from freshman Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) who had nine points and 10 rebounds on the day.

The Panthers continued to shoot the ball well as they shot 65% from the floor in the period and scored the most point of the season in any quarter as they held a 34-20 lead at the end of the first quarter.

ODU saw their lead trimmed to 13 at 39-26 before a 15-3 run pushed the lead to 25 which was their largest of the half on a Fisher jump shot with 4:00 in the half.

ODU took a 60-38 lead into the half which marked their most points in a half this season on 58% shooting (22-for-28).

The Panthers saw their lead grow to 28 in the third quarter at 73-45 and maintained at least a 24-point lead the rest of the way.

ODU finished the game shooting 45% from the floor (33-for-73) and had 23 assists on the afternoon while holding OVU to shooting just 34% (21-for-61).

Brittany Hill led the way for the Scots with 24 points while Akiya Brown had 14.

ODU goes back on the road next Thursday, January 10 as they travel to Findlay with tip set for 5:30 p.m.
