Box Score

Postgame Interviews

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two first half goals were enough to seal a 2-1 victory for Ohio Dominican's women's soccer team against Northwood in its first GLIAC match of the season at Panther Stadium on Friday night.

Alumni of the ODU women's soccer program were honored at halftime and watched as the Panthers (2-3-2, 1-0-0 GLIAC) started their GLIAC slate with a win and improved their home record to 2-0-1.

ODU outshot Northwood (3-3-0, 0-1-0 GLIAC) 19-7 overall, including an 11-3 edge in shots in the second half. The Panthers also held a 8-6 advantage in shots on goal over the Timberwolves.

Junior Alli Pavlik (Cortland, Ohio) scored her third goal of the season and sophomore Susan D'Isidoro (Twinsburg, Ohio) recorded her first goal of 2016. Sophomore Allie Atkinson (Ontario, Ohio) dished out an assist, marking her third of the season, a team-high.

Sophomore Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) recorded her second win of the season at goalkeeper, starting and finishing with no goals allowed and three saves. Junior Kelsey Harris (Mason, Ohio) played the final 45 minutes at goalkeeper and recorded three saves to finish out the match for ODU.

The Panthers started strong, as Pavlik found the back of the net just 4:48 into the match after a failed attempt to clear the box by Northwood, giving ODU a 1-0 lead that it carried into halftime.

In the second half, Atkinson found D'Isidoro on a breakaway for the Panther offense at the 53:37 mark to increase Ohio Dominican's advantage to 2-0.

Northwood cut closer in the 75th minute, scoring after a failed attempt to clear the zone by the Panther defense, cutting the Timberwolves deficit to 2-1.

But ODU's defense held strong for the remainder of the match, as Harris recorded a save at the 81:32 mark in Northwood's only shot attempt in the last 15 minutes of the match, earning the win for Ohio Dominican, 2-1.

The Panthers will be home for their next contest, this Sunday, September 25 at 1 p.m. as the squad hosts Saginaw Valley (6-2-0, 0-1-0 GLIAC) in its second GLIAC contest of the year.
