Women's Soccer

No. 2 Grand Valley State Wins 4-0 Against Women's Soccer

ALLENDALE, Mich. — Second-ranked Grand Valley State defeated Ohio Dominican's women's soccer team 4-0 in a non-conference battle on Sunday afternoon.

The match was one of two road contests over the weekend for ODU (1-3-2, 0-0-0 GLIAC), which fell 1-0 (2OT) at Ferris State on Friday in a non-conference matchup.

The Panthers were led defensively by junior Kelsey Harris (Mason, Ohio), who recorded seven saves and allowed just one goal in 45 minutes of action.

The Lakers (5-0-1) struck quickly, scoring in the 9th minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Panthers. Then in the 13th minute, Jayma Martin scored her seventh goal of the year to increase the Laker lead to 2-0. Grand Valley State took a 3-0 lead into halftime, but Harris was able to record seven saves in the second half and hold the Laker offense to just one goal, as GVSU took the match, 4-0.

The Panthers and Lakers will meet again on Friday, October 14 at 7 p.m. in Allendale in a GLIAC matchup.

Ohio Dominican will look forward to returning home this coming weekend for its first GLIAC matches of the year, hosting Northwood (3-2-0, 0-0-0 GLIAC) on Friday, September 23 at 7 p.m. on Alumni Night at Panther Stadium and then will take on Saginaw Valley (6-1-0, 0-0-0 GLIAC) on Sunday, September 25 at 1 p.m.
