Women's Soccer Powers Past Tiffin, 3-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's women's soccer team won its third game of GLIAC play and remained unbeaten in the conference, defeating Tiffin 3-0 at Panther Stadium on Friday night.

The Panthers (4-3-4, 3-0-2 GLIAC) remain just one of two unbeaten teams in the GLIAC alongside No. 1 Grand Valley State and are 3-0-2 in their last five matches.

ODU outshot Tiffin (1-10-0, 0-5-0 GLIAC) 27-15 and held a 15-10 edge in shots on goal.

At goalkeeper, sophomore Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) and junior Kelsey Harris (Mason, Ohio) combined for 10 saves, a season-high for Ohio Dominican. Wierzbicki started her 11th game of the season and recorded three saves in the first half, with Harris playing between the posts in the second half, tying a season-high in saves with seven and improving her save percentage to .902 for the year. ODU has held its last three opponents scoreless and has given up just two goals in its last five matches.

Junior Alli Pavlik (Cortland, Ohio) scored her fifth goal of the year in the contest. Senior Kelly Johnson (Berea, Ohio) recorded her third goal of the year, ranking second on the team in goals scored, and senior Madison Baldwin (Zanesville, Ohio) scored her second goal of 2016. Sophomore Jenna Fodor (Hilliard, Ohio) recorded the first two assists of her career in the match, while sophomore Susan D'Isidoro (Twinsburg, Ohio), senior Emily Riviello (Huber Heights, Ohio) and Johnson also finished with assists for Ohio Dominican.

The Panthers struck first in the 18th minute, as Riviello found Johnson towards the top of the box, scoring to take a 1-0 lead.

Just before halftime, ODU pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 44th minute on a goal by Baldwin from the close right wing, assisted by Johnson and Fodor.

Ohio Dominican once again increased its advantage, this time in the 63rd minute on a goal by Pavlik with assists from D'Isidoro and Fodor, giving ODU a 3-0 advantage. Harris recorded seven saves in the second half, and the Panther defense helped preserve a 3-0 shutout victory.

The Panthers will hit the road on Sunday, October 9 for a road GLIAC contest at Ashland beginning at 1 p.m.
