Box Score BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Ohio Dominican's women's soccer team fell 3-0 at Ferris State in a GLIAC contest on a rainy, misty Sunday afternoon in Big Rapids, Michigan.
The Panthers (4-6-4, 3-3-2 GLIAC) finished with 12 shots overall, eight on goal, and held an 8-6 shot advantage over Ferris State in the second half.
Senior Emily Riviello (Huber Heights, Ohio) and freshman Shelby Shotton (Marion, Illinois) led the Panthers with two shots on goal apiece. Senior Kethryn Mattingly (Beavercreek, Ohio), sophomore Allie Atkinson (Ontario, Ohio), freshman Cheyenne Story (Canfield, Ohio) and sophomore Susan D'Isidoro (Twinsburg, Ohio) each finished with one shot on goal.
At goalkeeper, sophomore Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) started and recorded five saves and allowed just one goal in her 45 minutes of action.
Ferris State (5-6-2, 3-2-3 GLIAC) struck early, scoring the eighth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Panther defense held strong for the remainder of the half and went into the locker room trailing just 1-0.
But the Bulldogs added goals in the 56th and 65th minutes, increasing their lead to 3-0. Ferris State held the Panthers scoreless for the remainder of the match, taking the contest, 3-0.
Ohio Dominican will return to Panther Stadium and look to get back on track against Lake Erie this Friday, October 21 at 7 p.m.
