Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team fell to Hillsdale Saturday afternoon, in a GLIAC matchup, 70-54.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 3-4 overall (1-1 GLIAC). HC stayed unbeaten on the season, improving to 4-0 overall (2-0 GLIAC).
The Panthers were led by sophomore Tori Beth Leader (West Portsmouth, OH) who scored 12, also grabbing seven rebounds. Sophomre Madi Rittinger (Dayton, OH) added nine points and nine rebounds.
Three other Panthers scored at least seven points including seniors Kacee Hockenberry (Haviland, OH), Micaela Liddane (Gross Pointe Woods, MI), and sophomore Lauren Bates (Hilliard, OH).
The Panthers shot just 32 percent from the field (20-63) while HC shot 43 percent (26-61). HC held a slight advanatge in rebounds, 43-40.
ODU jumped out to an early 7-2 lead after a Liddane three pointer at the 17:40 mark of the opening half.
The Chargers fought back into the game as the two teams exchanged the lead nine times and were tied seven other times in the opening 20 minutes. HC took a 31-29 lead into the break.
The Chargers extended their lead to as many as six early in the second half, but Scherpenberg hit three out of four free throws cut the ODU deficit to 42-39 with 15:26 to play.
ODU fell behind by as many as 11 points twice in the second half before an 8-1 run capped by a Leader layup cut the HC lead to 53-47 with 10:00 to play.
HC however, answered the ODU run with an 8-0 run to take at 61-47 lead with just over eight minutes to play. The Charger lead would get as high as 20, as ODU would fall 70-54.
The Panthers will trek to Ferris State next Sunday, December 14, at 1 p.m. as they begin road conference play.
